Today, hybrid threats are penetrating the real world from cyberspace and directly threatening the functioning of democratic institutions, critical infrastructure, and citizens themselves. If political leaders do not ensure the protection of the state in cyberspace as one of the highest security priorities, they expose their own country to unprecedented hybrid attacks with devastating effects on its sovereignty, national identity, digital statehood, and legitimacy.
  
  
• Protecting politicians from AI agents: Democracy is now being decided in cyberspace, partly because thousands to millions of artificial intelligence agents are already actively operating on social networks and deliberately influencing not only the social but also the political attitudes of citizens. In the near future, these AI entities will transform into fully functional political representatives—capable of gaining a higher degree of sympathy, trust, and influence than real politicians and gradually replacing them. This phenomenon represents the most insidious hybrid threat to democracy the world has ever known. Totalitarian and authoritarian regimes are already producing, leasing, and deploying these autonomous AI agents to spread their own propaganda, manipulate public opinion, and with the sole aim of controlling foreign territory (cyber occupation) and destroying the democratic world.
  
  
• Protecting virtual borders: Ensuring the protection of virtual borders is a top security priority, as cyber armies cross the virtual borders of EU member states and critically threaten democracy, national security, and civil society.
  
  
• Protecting digital statehood: Protecting digital statehood involves measures to ensure the sovereignty and legitimacy of the state in cyberspace. This modern pillar of national security consists of maintaining citizens' trust in democracy and the state in an environment that is negatively affected by new technologies, social networks, and artificial intelligence.
  
  
• Protection and development of digital democratic infrastructure: The cornerstone of digital democratic infrastructure is its immune system, on which the stability of democracy and citizens' trust in its functioning depend. Without this system, the full implementation of democratic processes in the digital age would not be possible.
  
  
• E-elections, e-voters, and e-candidates – a new global trend: E-elections on the Politinn social network represent a revolutionary step in democratic participation, as they allow every citizen, in the role of an e-voter, to express their support for politicians and candidates online.
